I really love the fact that I get to shoot on location throughout our beautiful area here in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina.  I love shooting in studio too, but I think I would eventually get really bored if I ONLY shot in studio year round.  Shooting in the mountains is amazing & shooting at the beach is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!  But shooting in urban areas is definitely one of my absolute favorite places to shoot.  Downtown Asheville around Pack Square is a perfect urban area to shoot in.  This is where Shelby, my intern, and I met up with Abby, one of my #828seniors, for her senior session.

It was late November when we shot her session.  Shooting in an urban area is really perfect when shooting during really late fall and winter months so you don't have a lot of bare trees and brown grass in your pictures which can sometimes come across as  blah.  When shooting in the city there is plenty of opportunity to find color, texture, and architecture to add interest to your images.

Abby and I got to work together two times in November.  First on her senior project, and then for her senior portrait session.  For her senior project, she teamed up with Safelight here in Hendersonville, NC to bring more awareness to abuse and sexual assault.  For part of her project she planned a fashion show as a fundraiser for Safelight.  She reached out to me while planning and asked me if I would be interested in photographing the fashion show for her project.  Of course I said YES!  I'd love to!  So I got to go photograph all the models in the fashion show and the behind the scenes for her.  I am so proud of Abby for doing her project on such an important issue, and supporting a really important organization.

A few days later in November, we got to work together again for her senior portraits!  Abby's session turned out absolutely beautiful in downtown Asheville.  She is so comfortable in front of the camera.  And as you'll see below, the camera really loves her too!  Abby and her parents were in the studio last night for her reveal and to pick out the pictures she wanted printed to remember her senior year by. We shared lots of laughter, and a few tears shed by all. :)

Thank you again Abby for such an amazing session.  It's been so fun getting to know you this year.  I can't wait to see you again in a couple of weeks for our next creative shoot!!!
